Your Chance to Brag and My Top 5 Posts in March

My friend Chuck and I watched the Kansas-Kentucky college basketball championship game last night. Not exactly a game for the ages, but congratulations to Coach John Calipari and his Wildcats for a game well played.

At this point, Chuck and I were happy with the score.

We may not all have an interest in basketball or championships but we can take lessons from the game.

First of all, we all want to excel in some area—sports, school, art, business, marriage, child rearing, or something else (which is kind of like saying he either writes well or he doesn’t; in other words, paint the picture with enough colors and you’re bound to hit someone’s favorite hue).

Secondly, even the shyest among us wants to be acknowledged for doing something well. We don’t need a national championship trophy in our hands to affirm us but we do need an encouraging “well done” every now and then.

Saturday a JV baseball player made a bold statement about his skills. I said, “Christian, you’ve surprised me with how well you’ve played already so, although I tend to discount a lot of guys when they say that, I’m inclined to believe you.”

He said, “Thanks, Coach. Coming from you that means a lot.”

I’m curious. If you’re a blogger, what was your top post in March? For everyone, what is a recent accomplishment you wish to share?

Mine is a simple one. During baseball practice last week, I took my turn hitting fly balls to the outfielders. I was rusty, whiffed multiple times before connecting, but ended up giving the guys something to catch.

    some days it is a simple as taking a shower, shampooing your hair, getting your makeup on, and going out into the world. Sometimes it is trying to find something positive when injustice has ruled against your best friend, and offer them loving support. Today I have done both. and in the midst of it I have thought about the injustice that took place in what we call Holy Week. How injust and unfair that the innocent Son of God was required to die on the cross for my sins……and know one knows them better than Him and I. And yet HE loves me and would do it all over again, not because I deserve it or have done something to earn it, but because HE loves me…..some days just believing that and holding on to that faith in the midst of life is the hardest thing of all. Not anything to brag about I guess, but it finds me thanking God and counting my blessings..M

      Well done, Mary. You remind me of Paul’s words. “… we boast in the hope of the glory of God … we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ …” (Romans 5:2,11) and “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord” (I Corinthians 1:31). A good reminder (and seeds for future blogging thoughts).

    While I don’t have enough readers yet to really classify any of my posts as being “the top,” I am happy about my recent accomplishment of my “Simplicity Principles” series that started in March and ends today. I am enjoying the learning experience that comes with blogging and even the process of increasing readership.

      Kari, I don’t know what “enough readers” is but you have readers and that’s enough. It’s humbling to be read at all and to garner comments. I’m thankful you’re a part of the regulars here and I do enjoy reading your blogs.

        Now that I re-read my comment, I sound a bit ungrateful. I guess I meant that there aren’t any trends in my comments to indicate that any post was more read than another. Having readers is one of the most exciting aspects of my kife. I hope I never lose the feeling I now get with every comment. To know that what I write may help someone “make the most of every opportunity” is very humbling. Thank you for helping me adjust my perspective.
