A screen shines in front of me and offers me scads of options.
Movies.
TV.
Audio.
Skyflyer Kids.
Your Journey.
Your Journey?
That sounds interesting. Touch the screen and more options appear.
Moving Map. Yep, that’s the one I want.
Altitude: 36,000 feet
Speed: 616 MPH
You get the idea. And I like this idea a lot.
I see where I am and where I’m going. A clock tells me what time it is in Chicago (departure point) and London (arrival point).
How long until we arrive? The screen tells me 2 hours and 25 minutes. This is fantastic.
Can I get one of these for my life?
I need to know…
Where I’m going.
How I get there.
How long until I arrive.
For example, I write. Since you’re reading this, I figure you know that already. I’d sure like to know where I’m going with this particular desire. How will I use it? What will it mean for me and those I love? Will I ever actually make even a smidgeon of a living from my writing?
I don’t know. Screen please.
Where am I now? How long will the writing journey take to get from now to then?
I don’t know. Screen please.
What does the writing journey look like on a map?
I don’t know. Screen please.
I bet you could use a screen like that as well.
And what about not any old journey but the JOURNEY? Anyone have a touch screen for that?
No, we don’t.
But we do have ways to recognize the path. Let me offer a few. Feel free to jump in with your own thoughts.
1) The Bible. In my estimation, this comes closest to a touch screen for answers. A tad difficult to read and understand at times but well worth the effort to try. If you’re going to start anywhere, I’d recommend Proverbs.
2) The Unseen Presence, Our Elder Brother said He’d ask the Father and the Father would send another like Him. My guess at some point in your life you’ve had an inner conversation with Someone you couldn’t quite put your finger on.
3) A curious band of others. People who love the ONE have a way of influencing and encouraging us on the JOURNEY.
I could list a few more options to help us along but I know you’ve got better ideas. Would love to hear them (but I’ll settle for reading them).
Question: What helps you remain on the path HOME?
